Create a Vision Board

January 4, 2018

Happy New Year!!!! I cannot believe another year has past- where did all of the time go? We spent the holidays resting and relaxing on a short family vacation and I feel ready to tackle 2018 (well kinda, I’m technically still in my Christmas pajamas).

A great thing I did last year (and I have done for the past 11 years) was to create a vision board. I am determined to stay on track with some specific goals- eating healthy, staying active, more time with friends/family and spending more time outdoors with Liv. I’m also ready to set new career goals, too!

It is such a sense of accomplishment to look back and see how many of the goals I set for myself in 2017 that I was able to accomplish. It’s almost crazy. A few years before I had Olivia, I put a picture of a baby on the board and went I went back to look at it after Olivia was born. I was shocked to see the baby picture was a girl with light eyes and almost looked like her! I didn’t pay that much attention to the picture when posting it, because I just thought “baby”. Anyway, I’m just sharing that tidbit so you can be extra clear on what you’d like for 2018, because you may just get that exact same thing! 🙂 So here we are with a fresh new year ahead of us and it is time for a new board- I will be setting out goals for myself for this year and creating a new board and encourage you to join me! See below for my tips….

Make it PERSONAL

One of the things I found myself doing when I started this process was second guessing adding things to my vision board because I thought they were too small or not worthy of being on the board. Drinking more water, being more organized, picking up a new hobby- they may not be as grand as landing your dream job or buying a house but they are important none the less. Don’t edit your goals- make a list of everything big and small that you hope to accomplish and make it as personal as possible! I actually get together with friends to create my board, but if you feel like you would edit down your visions in front of other people,… it’s probably best to do it private.

Make it BEAUTIFUL

Somewhat like a Pinterest board, your vision board should be full of images that inspire you and push you towards your goals. In order to stay on track with your vision, it’s important to have an emotional connection to the images and to display them in a prominent place (this will not work if they are shoved in the back of your closet!). So choosing beautiful visuals is an important factor here! There is no wrong way to display your board but hanging your images in gallery frames, using washi tape to adhere to an office wall or printing them as one large collage are some of my favorite ways! (Images L to R: Unknown, Paper & Stitch,Oh Joy)

Make it HAPPEN

So what now? You have created your board, it is in a prominent location, but how do you turn those dreams into reality? For me, the key is to set and work towards short, actionable goals. Every big goal can be broken down into actionable steps that are the key to making your dreams into reality. The key is to remain consistent, be patient and persevere- some long term goals have been on my board for years and one day they will be a reality!

Sharing one of my favorite recipes, these spring treats are super easy and (*bonus*) don’t involve any baking!

You can whip these out last minute and customize them for any holiday or celebration. It is also a really fun afternoon activity for the littles- they are meant to look a little messy and full of color so the kids can help you decorate once the rice Krispies are cooled.

Olivia and I used some of our favorite chocolate candy to decorate- I cant wait to see how you decorate yours!

It can be as simple as a lighting fixture, a table runner, or adding colorful accents like a bowl of fruit. Even by adding a floral arrangement, you can transform a space to welcome in spring! ☀️

Do you redecorate at all when the seasons change?

This year is a bit different for us. I am on the road and traveling for work, so we decided to celebrate earlier this week.

I love being a Mom more than anything in the world and I also love what I do. Here’s your reminder that you can do both and thrive. Sometimes... as a working parent, you need to be flexible. Just remember, it’s ok. 💛

The best Easter is one spent with your Peeps. 🐰 The best Easter is one spent with your Peeps. 🐰

Easter is less than a week away so, of course, I put together the jelly bean & peep floral centerpiece that I make almost every year. I make it every Easter and you may have already seen it on Pinterest, but the reason it’s my go-to craft is because it’s so easy.

I made this in minutes and bought the peeps and jellybeans at the dollar store, so it didn’t take much $$, either.

If you’re hosting or attending a socially-distanced Easter Brunch, this is a super cute way to celebrate or you can bring it as a host(ess) gift. OR if you’re missing out on celebrating with family this year, drop this at their doorstep for the sweetest surprise. 💛

Step by step instructions are live on the blog — head over to my stories and link in my bio!

This gloomy weather has me dreaming 💭 of spring This gloomy weather has me dreaming 💭 of spring, so I’m doing a roundup of my favorite planters!

You can refresh your living space or workspace any time of the year and benefit from adding a lush, thriving green plant and colorful ceramic or stoneware pot to your environment.

Here are some tips for decorating with planters:

1. Mix interesting or engaging containers with living plants to add a focal point. Using different sized pots and complementary colors, group three plants together. Try to make one of the three larger to break up the visual look. Everything is better in groups of three.

2. Play with heights — use hanging planters, plant stands, different size pots, etc. Create a focal point, and use the other pieces to compliment it.

3. Choose planters that bring you JOY! That’s a given, no explanation necessary. 🥰

How adorable are these? 🪴 Which one is your favorite? Linking them all in my bio to shop! http://liketk.it/3bn1D #liketkit @liketoknow.it #LTKhome #StayHomeWithLTK #LTKstyletip
