We are moving into a new home soon and I have a question about living room and staircase wall colors.

We painted the living room walls brown and I am wondering if the staircase wall leading upstairs (which is connected to the living room) would look alright painted the same light green we are going to paint the upstairs room? Not sure if this could be considered an "accent" wall or not or if I continue on with the brown for that wall? I'm panicing!

Sabrina's Answer
Hi Lisa! First of all - don't panic. :) I know it's a lot of stress to move into a new place AND decorate it at the same time! It's a process, so take your time. You post a good question and I hope my answer helps. If the walls in your living room are considerably darker than the green wall leading to the upstairs, I would consider painting the staircase wall - although it's isn't a MUST. You just want to make sure there is a definite breaking point when you stop painting one color. In other words, you never want to stop a color in the middle of a wall. Hope that helps! Sabrina

TODAY'S QUICK TIP

The size of a bedside lamp is determined by the size and height of your bed. If you have a large bed choose a big fixture. For a low platform bed, choose one that is petite.
